Where The Wild Things Are
by Maurice Sendak
Where the Wild Things Are
is a children's picture book by author and illustrator Maurice Sendak. In the
book, a young boy named Max is sent to bed without supper for making mischief
in his house while wearing his wolf costume. While punished in his room, Max
conjures up a far away land, "Where the Wild Things Are". Although
the creatures there are wild and fearless, no creature is as wild and fearless
as the boy named Max. Throughout the story we see a loving friendship form
between Max and these creatures even though the readers know that they exist
only in Max's imagination. Eventually Max gets home sick and returns to his
room where his supper is left waiting for him. Max show's his readers that if
you have imaginary friends, one will never truly be alone.
One word. Classic.
