Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by JK Rowling
What can be said about
Harry Potter that hasn't already been said? This JK Rowling series has entered
our hearts as well as the realms of pop culture. Of the many aspects of emotional
intelligence that are displayed in this book, I find the use of school
friendship to be quite comforting. For those of us that have already
experienced life in school, and for those of us who are experiencing it now, we
know that making friends in the school setting is extremely important to the
emotional development of younger children. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone shows its readers how the three main
characters, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, cope with the various aspects of trying
to fit in with school crowds such as bullies, popular students, etc. Through
all the trials and tribulations, the three students form a friendship that will
leave readers believing in the goodness of others and the power of being close
friends.
