Friends will argue at times

Horace and Morris but Mostly Dolores
by James Howe

In this vivid picture book Horace, Morris and Delores are three best friends who love playing together until one day Horace and Morris decide that “a boy mouse must do what a boy mouse must do!” and the trio splits up with the two boys creating a boys-only club. Lonely without her friends Dolores joins an all-girls club, but the friends eventually miss each other. Dolores gets bored with her girl friends and invites Horace and Morris on an exploring adventure with her. This book enhances a child’s moral intelligence by showing that friends are allowed to separate, and it doesn’t make them any less of good friends. It shows that even though friends may fight, it's okay to have space before you make up. Children will identify with the mice characters and see themselves in their arguments and disagreements.
